Office originals and ZIP

Embedded images are preserved in their original format. In ZIPs, the search includes every folder.

PDF images

Embedded raster images are exported as PNG. Text, vector drawings and transparency masks are not rebuilt as complete figures.

Vectors preserved

SVG, EMF and WMF are kept in their original format. EMF, WMF and TIFF can be downloaded even when the browser offers no preview.

About Image Extractor

Recovers the images embedded in PDFs, Office documents, OpenDocument and ZIP files, without having to open the original program.

A practical example

You received a PPTX presentation with 40 slides and need the photos in it, but the original photo files were lost. You upload the PPTX, see the gallery with every image found and download them all in a ZIP, with the same quality they were inserted with.

How to use it

  1. Upload the file (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, ODT/ODP/ODS or ZIP).
  2. See the gallery with the images found.
  3. Download them one by one or all in a ZIP.

Limits and cautions

  • Only embedded images are extracted; pages of a scanned PDF are a single image per page.
  • Password-protected files cannot be read.

WebFaz Image Extraction with an uploaded package and the images found listed as thumbnails, with the options to download one by one or all.
Image extraction: upload the document and download what you want.
  1. Upload Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, PDF or ZIP (up to 20 documents). Everything is read in the browser.

When to use it

  • Recovering the photos from a PowerPoint presentation without copying slide by slide.
  • Pulling the images out of a PDF report or a Word document to reuse them.
  • Looking at what is inside a ZIP of images and downloading only what you need.

Tips

  • If you want the whole PDF page as an image (and not the embedded photos), use the PDF tool to convert pages to JPG.
  • Check the copyright before reusing an image that is not yours.
  • To download many at once, use the ZIP option.

What happens in your browser

DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, ODP, ODS and ZIP are really compressed packages that store the images as files inside a folder. The tool opens the package in the browser and copies them as they are, without recompressing; that is why the original quality is kept.

In PDF, the tool recovers the images embedded in the pages. In a scanned PDF, each page is an entire image.

Password-protected files cannot be read. Nothing is sent to WebFaz; the extraction is local.

Perguntas frequentes

Is the original quality kept?
Yes, the images are extracted as they are stored in the file, with no recompression.
Is my document sent to a server?
No, everything runs in the browser.
Does the tool also extract text?
No, only images. For text from images and scanned PDFs, use WebFaz OCR.
In what format do the images come out?
In the same format they are stored in the file (for example JPEG or PNG), with no new compression.
Does it work with large files?
Yes, but the practical limit is your device’s memory, since everything is read in the browser.
Why did the tool not find images in my PDF?
The PDF may have only text and vector drawings, which are not embedded images. In scanned PDFs, each page comes out as a single image.
Can I download them all at once?
Yes, in a ZIP file.
