How to do it, step by step
- Select the video.
- With Advanced mode open, choose the Video bitrate, the Audio bitrate and the Frame rate.
- Check the estimate and, if you like, lower the resolution.
- Compress and download.
When this is useful
60 FPS videos that do not need it
For ordinary content, 30 FPS is usually enough: with fewer frames, you can use a lower bitrate without losing the sharpness of each frame.
Reach a target size
Adjust the bitrate until the estimate is within the limit.
Tips for a good result
- The approximate size is (video + audio bitrate) × duration: 1500 kbps of video + 128 kbps of audio give about 12 MB per minute.
- 24 FPS is the cinema standard and saves space.
- Fewer FPS makes fast movements less fluid.
What this tool does not do
- The bitrate you enter is the encoder’s target: the real result may vary.
- The options are fixed (400, 800, 1500, 2500 and 5000 kbps; 24, 30 and 60 FPS); there is no free field.
- Raising the FPS above the original does not create new frames.
- The new file carries the “WebFaz.com” credit in the metadata (comment and artist).
Frequently asked questions
- What is bitrate?
- It is the amount of data per second of the video. The higher it is, the more detail and the bigger the file.
- What is the difference from the simplified mode?
- The simplified one uses a 1 to 5 control; the advanced one lets you choose each setting separately.
