How to do it, step by step
- Select the video.
- Leave mono and 128k, which come already ticked.
- Click Extract audio.
- Listen in the player and download the MP3.
When this is useful
Keep a meeting or a class
Mono at 128 kbps comes to about 1 MB per minute.
Send a note recorded on video
The audio file is much lighter than the video.
Prepare the speech for transcription
Send the MP3 to WebFaz Transcription and get the text.
Tips for a good result
- If the voice is low, raise the volume under “Volume gain”.
- If the recording has music or stereo ambience, prefer the video to MP3 page, which keeps stereo.
What this tool does not do
- Mono mixes the left and right channels into one: stereo music loses the separation between the sides.
- The app does not remove noise or separate the voice from music: it keeps the sound as it is in the video.
- One video at a time, and the extraction depends on the device’s memory: very large videos may fail.
- The video must have an audio track; if it does not, the app warns you.
- The new file carries the “WebFaz.com” credit in the metadata (comment and artist).
Frequently asked questions
- Why mono?
- For voice, stereo adds almost nothing, and mono makes the file smaller. You can switch to stereo on the video to MP3 page.
- Does this isolate the voice?
- No. The app extracts all the sound from the video, not just the speech.
