How to do it, step by step
- Open or drag the .usdz file.
- Check the model in the scene.
- Click Convert and download.
When this is useful
Edit the model in a modeling program
OBJ opens in programs such as Blender and several others.
Send the model to someone outside the Apple ecosystem
OBJ is an open, old format, accepted by many people.
Tips for a good result
- The OBJ comes out with only the geometry, without textures. To carry the textures, use GLB.
What this tool does not do
- The generated OBJ carries no textures or materials: only the shape.
- Advanced USDZ features may not be reproduced on reading.
- Files of up to 400 MB. Everything is done in the browser, without sending the model.
- The app converts and shows the model: it does not edit the mesh or the textures.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I lose the textures?
- Yes, in OBJ. In the test, the generated OBJ reopened without texture. Use GLB or USDZ to keep them.
