How to do it, step by step
- Select the MKV file.
- Choose the bitrate, channels and volume, if needed.
- Click Extract audio and follow the progress.
- Listen in the player and download the MP3.
When this is useful
Listen to just the soundtrack of a long recording
MP3 is much lighter than MKV.
Keep a specific clip
Turn on “Trim clip” to extract only the part that matters.
Tips for a good result
- Large MKV files take longer: follow the progress bar and use Cancel if needed.
- To turn the speech into text, send the audio to WebFaz Transcription.
What this tool does not do
- MP3 is a lossy format: the quality never exceeds that of the audio that was in the video.
- If the MKV has several audio tracks (for example, dubs), the choice of track is not offered.
- One video at a time, and the extraction depends on the device’s memory: very large videos may fail.
- The video must have an audio track; if it does not, the app warns you.
- The new file carries the “WebFaz.com” credit in the metadata (comment and artist).
Frequently asked questions
- Can I choose the MKV’s audio track?
- No. The app does not offer a choice between tracks.
