How to do it, step by step
- Open the .txt file (or paste the text into the Input box), with one line per row.
- In the Adjust timing tab, set the Duration per text block.
- Check the times in the Output box.
- Download the SRT and adjust the sync with the video.
When this is useful
Create the subtitles of a short video from the script
Each line of the script becomes a line.
Prepare subtitles to adjust later
Use the result as a starting point and fix the times.
Tips for a good result
- Each non-empty line becomes a block; blank lines are ignored.
- To adjust the lines with the video on screen, open the subtitle correction with video page.
What this tool does not do
- The times are generated by the duration per block (4 seconds by default), not by the real speech: the app warns that the sync needs review.
- Very long lines become long captions on screen: break the text into short lines beforehand.
- Subtitle files of up to 5 MB; ZIP of up to 256 MB; video of up to 2 GB.
- Everything happens in the browser: the file is not sent. The only exception is the optional translation, which sends only the text of the lines.
Frequently asked questions
- Are the times in sync with the speech?
- No. They only follow the duration per block. To sync, adjust the times in the player or use the timing adjustment.
- Can I generate subtitles from audio?
- This app does not transcribe audio. For that, use WebFaz Transcription and send the result here.
