How to do it, step by step
- Check the audio’s language or choose automatic detection.
- Select or drag the audio file.
- Wait: the transcription starts on its own and the text appears in the “Transcription” area.
- Review and use Copy to take the text to your editor.
When this is useful
Record an interview or a class
Instead of listening to everything again, read and search the text.
Turn a recorded note into text
Useful to keep the content of a long audio without having to listen to it.
Build minutes and notes
Copy the text and organize it in WebFaz Text Editor.
Tips for a good result
- Cleaner audio, with the person close to the microphone, gives a more faithful text.
- If the audio mixes languages, use “Detect automatically”.
- To turn the speech into timed subtitles, send the result to WebFaz Subtitles with the “Send to” button.
What this tool does not do
- Transcription needs the internet: the audio is sent to an AI service (Groq) to be processed. WebFaz does not store the audio.
- The limit is 30 minutes of audio per upload and 30 minutes per day in this browser; the app shows how much is left.
- The AI can make mistakes with names, numbers and technical terms, and recordings with noise or overlapping voices worsen the result: review the text.
- The result appears only on screen: the app does not download a text file. Use Copy.
- The text comes out running together, without separating who is speaking.
Frequently asked questions
- Where does my audio go?
- It is sent to a WebFaz function, which passes it to Groq for the AI to transcribe. WebFaz does not store the file. If the content is confidential, prefer not to use an AI service.
- Which audio formats work?
- MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC and WebM.
- What is the maximum size?
- The limit is duration: 30 minutes per upload. Large files are split into 30-second parts and sent one by one.
