How to do it, step by step
- Check that the language is English.
- Select or drag the English audio or video.
- Wait for the text to appear in the “Transcription” area.
- Review and use Copy.
When this is useful
Transcribe a class, talk or interview in English
Have the text to study, search or translate.
Subtitle a video in English
Send the result to WebFaz Subtitles, which also translates the text.
Tips for a good result
- The text comes out in the spoken language: the transcription does not translate. To translate, use WebFaz Subtitles.
- If there are passages in other languages, use “Detect automatically”.
What this tool does not do
- Transcription needs the internet: the audio is sent to an AI service (Groq) to be processed. WebFaz does not store the audio.
- The limit is 30 minutes of audio per upload and 30 minutes per day in this browser; the app shows how much is left.
- The AI can make mistakes with names, numbers and technical terms, and recordings with noise or overlapping voices worsen the result: review the text.
- The transcription keeps the original language (it does not translate).
Frequently asked questions
- Does the transcription translate?
- No. The text comes out in English, in the language of the speech.
- Do I need to choose the language?
- It is not required: there is a “Detect automatically” option. But when you know the language, choosing it saves the AI from guessing.
