How to do it, step by step
- Open or drag the .srt file.
- In the Adjust timing tab, choose font, size, color, position and your video’s resolution.
- Check the result in the Output box.
- Click Download ASS.
When this is useful
Burn the subtitles into the video with your own style
Editing programs and players accept ASS and use the style defined.
Change the subtitle position or color
Choose, for example, the center position or another text color.
Tips for a good result
- Use your video’s resolution (by default, 1920×1080) so the font size is proportional.
- The font must be installed on the device that plays the video.
What this tool does not do
- A single style is applied to all lines (by default, Arial 48, white text with a black outline).
- Italics and bold from the SRT do not carry over to the ASS: the tags are removed.
- Times are rounded to hundredths of a second.
- Original effects and styles are not preserved.
- Subtitle files of up to 5 MB; ZIP of up to 256 MB; video of up to 2 GB.
- Everything happens in the browser: the file is not sent. The only exception is the optional translation, which sends only the text of the lines.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I have different styles per line?
- No. The app applies a basic style to all the lines.
- Why does the resolution matter?
- The ASS font size is relative to the resolution defined in the file: if it differs from the video’s, the subtitles may appear bigger or smaller.
