CAD to PDF: turn a technical drawing (DXF) into a PDF

Select a CAD drawing in DXF and download an A4 one-page PDF, in the drawing’s orientation, with all the layers. The DXF reader is the same as WebFaz WebFaz CAD. The drawing goes into the PDF as a high-resolution image, and the conversion happens in the browser.

CAD to PDF

Converts a technical CAD drawing (DXF) into a PDF, with all the layers.

Accepts DXF. For DWG or DWT, save the drawing as DXF in your CAD program (Save as → DXF). The drawing goes into the PDF as a high-resolution image, fitted to an A4 page.

Tips for a good result

  • To choose layers, colors or background before converting, use WebFaz CAD.
  • If the PDF comes out blank, check that the DXF has a drawing (lines, curves or texts).

What this tool does not do

  • We do not read DWG or DWT yet (AutoCAD’s native formats): in the CAD program, use Save as and choose DXF.
  • The drawing goes into the PDF as a high-resolution image fitted to an A4 page; it does not stay vector or at print scale.
  • All layers are drawn; there is no way to hide layers on this page.
  • Not drawn: fills (hatches), inserted images and 3D solids. Dimensions and attributes may come out incomplete; the app warns which types were left out.
  • Text DXF (ASCII) only. Binary DXF is not read: save again as ASCII DXF.
  • Drawings with more than 100 thousand entities are rejected. Limit of 30 MB.

Frequently asked questions

Is the drawing scale preserved?
No. The drawing is fitted to the A4 page; the PDF is not meant for printing to scale.
Does it accept DWG?
Not yet. Today the conversion reads DXF; in AutoCAD, open the DWG or DWT and use Save as, choosing DXF.
Do curves and texts come out right?
Lines, arcs, circles, ellipses, polylines, SPLINE curves and texts are drawn. AutoCAD symbols such as %%d (degree), %%c (diameter) and %%p (±) become °, Ø and ±. Accents work in old (Windows standard) and new (UTF-8) DXF.
Why did my PDF come out with the drawing very small?
The PDF fits everything in the drawing to the A4 page. If there is an isolated object very far from the main drawing, the whole becomes small: delete that object in your CAD program and save again.
